History and Status

St. Anastasia School Alumni Association Charter and Governance

St Anastasia Elementary School opened in 1929 and graduated its last class in 2009.  Supported throughout its history by the clergy and parishioners of St. Anastasia Church, the school provided a fine elementary education, in the Catholic tradition, to many thousands of students.  The school was the life's work of several hundred lay educators and teachers serving with the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

In 2009, within the framework of the "Preserving the Vision" initiative of the Diocese of Brooklyn, the school was reorganized and renamed Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy.  No longer a parish school, but in fellowship with St. Anastasia Church, DWCA operates under the governance of a lay Board of Directors selected from the ranks of alumni and friends of the old SAS.

Our Mission and Purpose

The mission of the St Anastasia School Alumni Association is to keep alive a sentiment of affection for our Alma Mater, to unite its graduates through a bond of fellowship, to foster their feelings of friendship toward each other, and to guard the memories of that special time in our lives.

Our purpose is to promote the welfare of the Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy and to encourage from our members the spiritual and financial support for Catholic elementary school education in our hometown.
